Best Of North Island – New Zealand

Take an unforgettable journey once a while which is different from the usual and since I am quite a lover of scenic landscapes what better place than New Zealand. For years this country has been on my bucket list, and I can’t believe that everything fell into place and my months of effort on planning a two-week getaway finally came true. For years this country has been on my bucket list, and I can’t believe that everything fell into place and my months of effort on planning a two-week getaway finally came true.

There is an abundance of things to see and experience so planning this trip quite a task, but talking to a few locals and researching my way through the thousands of itineraries out there, I was able to fit in most of the attractions on North Island of New Zealand.

Auckland :-

  • Take a drive through Mission Bay
  • See the city from the observation deck and also Auckland’s tallest tower Sky Tower
  • Dine at their famous Viaduct Harbour which is always buzzing with people and foodie lovers
  • Auckland has tonnes of parks but one worth visiting would be the Domain Park which is also near by to the Botanical Garden and Museum.
  • With all the surrounding volcanic islands there are tonnes of day trips options but in my opinion, go for the Waiheke Island or wander through the upscale area of Devonport.
  • Auckland has tonnes of parks but one worth visiting would be the Domain Park which is also near by to the Botanical Garden and Museum.
  • If you enjoy the beach life, then Takapuna beach would best suit the people who love the outdoor lifestyle.

Day trips from Auckland are pretty popular, and some of the places without which your trip wouldn’t be complete are:-

Rotorua – This geothermal area is filled with hot springs, Geysers and hot mud pools which are something you wouldn’t want to miss. On this three hour drive from Auckland, you will be mesmerised by the beauty of mother earth; you can either stay here for the night as there are tonnes of options available for lodges, motels and hotels.

Matamata – Want to be surprised by the little town of Matamata? Then you need to hop on to one of the tours of Hobbiton and explore the sets of this grand movie ‘Hobbits’.

Waitamo Caves – I am sure you must have been to many caves before, but a cave which is studded with glow worms is not only stunning but also astonishing.

Bay Of Island’s – With over 140 islands Bay Of Islands is New Zealand’s aquatic paradise, you can choose to cruise through the island or go for kayaking, see the Rainbow waterfall or just take an overnight cruise and unwind at this peaceful hub.

  • Wellington – Want to explore the capital of New Zealand? Take the Kiwi Rail (Northern Explorer) from Auckland and pass through one of the most spectacular landscape. Going through the lush oasis, plateaus and beautiful gorge this journey is a remarkable way to experience the massive North Island of New Zealand.

I just got interested in the Botanical Garden and Matamata. Deciding between South and North is a bit confusing. I can see that New Zealand has a lot to brag about. Almost all places is amazing.
