You can also check out the famous Rafalias Pharmacy which was founded in 1890 and sells products made from old traditional recipes, isn’t that fascinating? 

Another thing to check out in the centre is the Bastions (canons) which surround the port and were used to protect the city from any attacks.

The Donkeys of Hydra – The first thing that you’ll notice when you step foot on Hydra Island is the presence of the adorable donkeys. These friendly animals are an integral part of the island’s culture and are used as a mode of transportation for visitors and locals alike. Horse ride on Harriet’s Horses – You can take up to 30min trips on these popular horses owned by Harriet Jarman, these horses are well looked after and it’s one of the things you enjoy doing on the island. There are around ten itineraries to choose from and they all seem pretty interesting.

The Hydra Historical Archives Museum and the Hydra Nautical Museum are two of the most popular museums on the island and are must-visits for history buffs. The Hydra Historical Archives Museum showcases the island’s history, while the Hydra Nautical Museum showcases the island’s nautical heritage and its role in the Greek War of Independence. If you have time you can even pay a visit to Koundouriotis who had a very important part in the war of independence, another popular one is the Ecclesiastical Museum.

Some of the most popular beaches on the island include Kaminia Beach, the sandy beach of Plakes Vlychos, and the rocky beach of Spilia.
